Lenient lending practices fed a speculative housing bubble and it left the Big Three with a big deficit. Double compounded by high oil prices driving consumer purchasing from large trucks and SUVs to more respectable fuel efficient cars.

But where are we headed from here? We just bottomed out in the recession that had Americans scrambling for work. The federal deficit is incredibly high and the national debt keeps climbing. The Feds only see one solution to their dilemma and that’s to simply print more money (where’s the value in that?). In effect, we’ll see an inflation of the almighty dollar along with escalating commodity prices.

The cost of gold, copper, oil and things with physical intrinsic value is going to take a huge leap. It’s not very comforting to watch the cost of living go through the roof while your paycheck stays the same, and that’s if you are one of the few in America who has managed to hang on to their job. The best thing to do right now is to pay off all your high interest debt; be a good steward of your possessions and protect your assets.
